The DC Victim Hotline has compiled a list of frequently needed resources related to sexual assault. This is not an exhaustive list of options available to you. The resources listed consist of both national and local resources. DC Resources

Volare: Volare provides free, holistic, and trauma-informed advocacy, legal, and therapeutic services to survivors of any type of crime in the District of Columbia. We believe in survivor-defined care, healing, and justice. This means that only survivors can make decisions about what healing and justice look like for them. Volare provides resources and support to survivors making those decisions. Call at 202-742-1727. 

DC Rape Crisis Center: DCRCC is the designated State Sexual Assault Coalition for the District of Columbia providing survivor centered advocacy through therapeutic services, training and technical assistance, community education, public policy initiatives. Call their 24/7 crisis hotline for immeidate support at 202-333-RAPE or for an appointment call 202-470-1188. 

DC Forensic Nurse Examiners (DCFNE): DCSANE provides specially trained nurses and advocates who can help the victim through the hospital exam and initial management, and can be accessed 24/7. Contact the DC Victim Hotline (844-443-5732) to be connected with a SANE nurse or advocate. 

DASH (District Alliance for Safe Housing):Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or trafficking can call 202-462-3274 or emai  [email protected] for housing. 

MPD’s Sex Assault Unit: The members of the Sex Assault Unit are specially trained in the investigation of sexual assault, and the detectives recognize and understand the sensitive, personal and invasive nature of sexual assault crimes. Call at 202-727-3700.

MPD Victim Services Branch: MPD’s Victim Services Branch provides support, information, and referrals to victims and their families. Call at 202-727-9099.

Crime Victim Compensation: The Crime Victims Compensation Program provides financial assistance and reimbursement to innocent victims of violent crime and their families with crime-related expenses. Call 202-879-4216, mail an  application, or email  [email protected].

Address Confidentiality Program:  The District’s Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), provides a legal substitute address for eligible DC residents to maintain confidentiality of her or his actual address. This program helps residents who fear for their safety by shielding their street address from public records, providing one tool in an individual’s broader safety plan.

National Resources

1in6: Provides support as well as resources for male survivors. 

Male Survivor: Useful resources for finding therapists, support groups and other assistance. 

The National Sexual Assault Hotline: The  Rape Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN) run a 24/7 service hotline that connects you to your local advocacy center for help and provides crisis support by phone at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or via their  live chat service

Find Help Near You: is a feature on the RAINN site which helps you locate the rape crisis center closest to you anywhere in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. 

Department of Defense Safe Helpline: a worldwide crisis support service, provided by RAINN, for members of the DoD community affected by sexual assault. Help is available for survivors and their loved ones. 

The  National Sexual Violence Resource Center: offers a wide variety of information relating to sexual violence, including a large legal resource library. 

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: The Lifeline provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals. Call at 1-800-273-8255.

Pathways to Safety International: Pathways to Safety International assists Americans experiencing interpersonal and gender-based violence abroad. Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via phone at 1-833-723-3833, email at [email protected], and online  chat.
