The DC Victim Hotline has compiled a list of frequently needed resources related to human trafficking. This is not an exhaustive list of options available to you. The resources listed consist of both national and local resources. DC Resources
FAIR Girls: FAIR Girls (formerly FAIR Fund) provides intervention and holistic care to survivors of human trafficking who identify as girls or young women. Call their hotline at 1-855-900-3247.
Courtney’s House: Courtney’s House is committed to providing trauma informed services for domestic sex trafficked youth between the ages of 12 and 21. Call their hotline at 1-202-423-0480.
DASH (District Alliance for Safe Housing):Survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or trafficking can call 202-462-3274 or emai [email protected] for housing.
DC Emergency Shelter Hotline Department of Human Services maintains a 24-hour shelter hotline to facilitate access to information on available programs and services. The Emergency Shelter program provides beds on a first come, first served basis, to any homeless person. Call at 202-399-7039.
Volare: Volare provides free, holistic, and trauma-informed advocacy, legal, and therapeutic services to survivors of any type of crime in the District of Columbia. We believe in survivor-defined care, healing, and justice. This means that only survivors can make decisions about what healing and justice look like for them. Volare provides resources and support to survivors making those decisions. Call at 202-742-1727.
Crime Victim Compensation: The Crime Victims Compensation Program provides financial assistance and reimbursement to innocent victims of violent crime and their families with crime-related expenses. Call 202-879-4216, mail an application, or email [email protected].
MPD Victim Services Branch: MPD’s Victim Services Branch provides support, information, and referrals to victims and their families. Call at 202-727-9099.
The Amara Legal Center: provides legal intakes and referrals for anyone who has traded sex for money or any other benefit, whether their involvement in commercial sex was by choice, coercion, or circumstance. Address Confidentiality Program: The District’s Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), provides a legal substitute address for eligible DC residents to maintain confidentiality of her or his actual address. This program helps residents who fear for their safety by shielding their street address from public records, providing one tool in an individual’s broader safety plan.
National Resources
The National Human Trafficking Hotline: The NHTH operates a 24-hour hotline and can be reached by phone at 1-888-373-7888, by texting HELP to BeFree (233733), or by chat to talk about your needs, your options, and the resources they have available to help you.
The National Runaway Safeline: The National Runaway Safeline provides crisis and support services for homeless and runaway youth in the United States. If you are a teen and in need of confidential help and assistance, call 1-800-786-2929 or text 66008. For more info email [email protected]
The NHTH Referral Directory: has a comprehensive map of human trafficking services across the United States.
The National Immigrant Women’s Advocacy Project: Provides a Directory of Service Providers with Experience Serving Immigrant Victims. It includes attorneys, advocates, and other legal assistance for victims.
Services Available to Victims of Human Trafficking Resource Guide: This resource guide written for social service provides and released by the Department of Health and Human Services describes the forms of assistance that may be available to trafficking victims.
The Office for Victims of Crime: hosts a comprehensive website with resources for victims, providers and law enforcement.
National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC): NCMEC serves as a clearinghouse and comprehensive reporting center for all issues related to the prevention of and recovery from child victimization. NCMEC’s CyberTipline is the nation’s centralized reporting system for the online exploitation of children. Call NCMEC’s hotline at 1-800-843-5678.
Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF): focuses on critical issues affecting Asian Americans, including immigrant rights, civic participation and voting rights, economic justice for workers, language access to services, educational equity, housing, and environmental justice, and the elimination of anti-Asian violence, police misconduct, and human trafficking.
